Novara Headwind Gloves (REI House Brand)

In my opinion, it never gets too cold for riding outside in south Louisiana.  Temperatures occasionally can dip down into the lower 30's where it is definitely cold out but with cycling clothing available today, it is still possible to ride comfortably if you dress right.  One of the things I seemed to have problems with finding for a while were a good pair of gloves that could keep my hands warm.  The Novara Headwind Gloves are a good fit for our weather and my favorite when the weather gets cool.

Novara is REI's house brand.  I picked up the Headwind Gloves one time while riding away from home and forgetting full finger gloves.  They were pretty cheap at around $30 but seemed to fit me good and had wind stopper fabric on the backs which would help keep my hands warm.

I think the things I like best about these gloves are the wind stopper fabric on the back that covers the fingers and comes up well above my wrist to keep out the cold, the cycling padding the on palms and thumbs and the cost.

I saw the posted reviews on the REI website where people said the wind stopper material didn't work.  I am not sure what kind of winds they are riding in but I have definitely had these on in 20mph+ winds and haven't had any issues.  The material covers the back of the fingers and hand as well as extending beyond the wrist.  This allows me to pull the glove over a long sleeve jersey and keep out the cold.

I sometimes wear liners under the gloves when the temps dip below 40 degrees.  I can never recall once thinking of having cold fingers or hands on a ride.
